4 Wedding Venue Must-Haves to Reduce Stress

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life.  It also can be one of the most stressful days of your life. The dress, the food, the cake, the lighting, the pictures.  All. The. Details. One way to head off loads of anxiety before it ever gets a chance to surface is to choose the right venue for your wedding ceremony.  This is so important. I would even say that it’s the first choice that a bride and groom decide on once the date is set.

Options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies

When choosing a wedding venue, you must keep in mind that the weather doesn’t always cooperate.  You might dream of a beautiful fall weather outside under a blue autumn sky with a crisp breeze in the air.  Or how about a spring wedding with warm sunshine and the birds chirping in the trees? Sounds great, right? Until the black thundercloud rolls in or the freak arctic wind decides to take a detour from it’s predicted path.  What’s a bride to do? Make sure you choose a venue that will accommodate your dream ceremony indoors or outdoors. If your heart is set on an outdoor wedding, just make sure that, should the need arise thanks to Mother Nature, that it is an easy transition to move indoors and that you will be just as happy with your decorations indoors as you are outdoors.

All inclusive rental fees

Some wedding venues only provide the setting.  That’s it. No really. That’s it. They might offer tables, chairs, and other seating options...for an extra fee.  You read that correctly. Tables and chairs are often an extra rental fee. As if you don’t have enough to pay for already.  But, there are venues that include tables and chairs in the rental fee. Yes, please. Talk about stress relief right off the bat.  You plan your guest list and get a count and go from there. Should your number change, no problem. If you choose a venue that provides the chairs and tables at no extra cost, then you add or subtract seating as needed.  No need to worry about the price changing or a rental fee going up because you need extra chairs.

Convenience galore

The very best wedding ceremonies are enjoyable for everyone.  What do I mean by this? Well, location for one thing. If your wedding venue is off the beaten path and the closest resemblance of modern civilization is a forgotten service station on a dirt path, well let’s just say this may give some of your guests an uneasy feeling.  Everyone loves a peaceful, private ceremony, but you can have all of this AND still choose a venue within a comfortable distance to other amenities, is easy to locate and easy to access. Something else to keep in mind is stairs. Does the venue have stairs to deal with or other obstacles that may make it difficult for handicapped guests or older guests? When checking out venues, be sure to keep this in mind.   I would suggest that the fewer the stairs the better, not only for your guests but for you. Think about rolling luggage and clothing racks and anything that has to be unloaded. Remember, it’s all about reducing the opportunity for stress on this day.

 Photo opportunities everywhere

When the day is over, you have the memories and the pictures.  You want these pictures to be perfect and to fully capture every moment of your day.  From the very first step when you arrive to the venue, the picture snapping should begin.  Hanging up your wedding dress. Prepping your hair and makeup with your bridesmaids. Guests arriving and being seated. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.  It isn’t just the candid photos I’m talking about either but the posed memories as well. Your venue should provide photo props that will catch the eye and create beautiful backdrops.  Think about vintage cars or trucks, beautiful woodwork, horse drawn carriages, fountains, lighting, and so on. Keep in mind that your wedding is not just about the ceremony but the ENTIRE event.  As you tour different venues, try to visualize what your pictures will be like from that venue. From start to finish!

Hopefully, you have gotten some insight into some ways to reduce some wedding stress right from the beginning.  Once you set your date, start shopping for the perfect venue. Trust me when I say that choosing the right location is so important, and this will alleviate tons of potential pain points that can surface before, during, and after the ceremony.  This is your big day. Make it memorable, make it joyful, and make it as stress free as possible by choosing the perfect venue.
